JAH & Co. IP would like to inform all our clients and associates that the Trademark Registry in Nigeria will commence digitization of all their physical files taking effect from the 1st October, 2015.
The Registry therefore implores all Stakeholders to demonstrate understanding and cooperation while this process lasts and to ensure that all their records with the Registry are promptly updated and/or renewed on/or before 28th September, 2015.
We therefore request that in order to conform with the requirements from the Registry, any incomplete documentation in the Trademark, Patent and Design applications should be filed before the deadline of 28th September, 2015 to update the records of the Registry before the commencement of the Digitization.
Please note that examples of incomplete documentations could include:
- Power of Attorney for new applications or take-over matters
- Priority Document / Supporting Documents like Deed of Assignment, evidence of Change of Name and Address, evidence of Merger, etc.
- PCT documents, pictures and drawings, etc.
We have been informed that during this process, the Registry might experience some delays with the issuance of certificates as a result of the data capture. Our firm is capable to assist our partners with IP matters in Nigeria in such a manner that it will be effective yet affordable.
Please feel free to contact us at email@example.com if you require further clarification with respect to the above information.
