The Yemeni Trademark Office (TMO) in Sanaa’ has implemented a significant policy change declared in the Ministerial Decision No. 52/2024, eliminating the prior restriction on the number of goods and services that can be included in a single trademark application, allowing them to designate an unlimited number of items within a single filing. However, while this update removes the previous limitation of 10 items, it’s important to note that any goods or services listed beyond the initial ten items will incur additional publication fees calculated at a rate of five percent (5%) of the standard publication fee for each additional item. It is worth mentioning that Sanaa’ adopts the 12th Edition of the Nice classification and applying a single class-based protection principle.
Currently, the online TMO portal system is undergoing necessary modifications to reflect this updated policy, and is expected to take effect within short.
